Marta Suarez Marta, also known as “Mimi” was born in Havana, Cuba and was exiled to the USA after the communist revolution. Since her early years, Mimi always had a passion for painting. After graduating from an Interior Decorating and Design School in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Mimi put her career on hold to become a full time “Mom” of three. Mimi decided to return to her love and passion of painting when her youngest child left for college. Ever since, she has taken workshops from Marc Chatov, Albert Handell, Anita Louise West and Sherrie McGraw. The artist has also studied under Deborah Ankrom Kepes, Carol Baxter Kirby, Nancy Honea, Tom Williams, John de la Vega, and Karen Hewitt Hagan, and is currently studying under Teena Stern, Jim Schell and Kristopher Meadows. Her work is held in private collections throughout the United States and Europe. |
